A homeless man and woman are accused of breaking into a Pottsville man’s apartment and packing his bags for him.
According to court documents, police were called to an apartment building on N. George St. on Thursday afternoon for a report of a breaking-and-entering.
A tenant of that apartment building reportedly told police that when he came home at about 3 p.m., he found two people inside, sitting in his living room, and his bags were packed and also in the living room.
The two people who allegedly broke into the apartment are identified by police as Clarence House, 35, and Angela Dzwonkowski, 34, who are each listed as homeless.
Police say they caught up with House and Dzwonkowski at the Pottsville Inn (formerly the Ramada Inn) a short time later. They reportedly told police that they were permitted to be in the building because they were supposed to be moving in on May 5.
When police spoke to the property owner, they learned that House and Dzwonkowski were supposed to be moving in on May 5 but they did not have permission inside the residence prior to that date.
House and Dzwonkowski have each been charged with a single felony count of criminal trespass. They were each arraigned on the evening of May 1 before District Magistrate Judge Edward Tarantelli. Bail was set at 10% of $5,000, which hasn’t been posted for either suspect and House and Dzwonkowski each remain housed at Schuylkill County Prison pending a preliminary hearing.
