Lengel and Seip will face one another in the November General Election.
This was the most competitive of any race on a ballot in the May Primary. A total of six candidates appeared on ballots, five on the Republican ticket.
Lengel pulled away from Marty Sowers (1,295) votes throughout the night to earn the GOP nod. Sowers, who was the only candidate to cross-file, finished several hundred votes behind Seip for the Democrat nomination, too.
“This is the biggest little election you could have ever imagined. Going against 5 people in one small area of 18 municipalities, it was a lot,” Lengel tells The Canary.
The GOP winner hosted friends, family, and supporters at the Pine Grove VFW on Election Night.
Lengel credits his campaign team for the convincing victory.
“This was a team sport, with multi-faceted people doing different jobs to get to the same goal,” Lengel says. “It’s too big of a job for one person. It was a team win.”
In comments to The Canary, Seip says, “I am very thankful and encouraged to be elected by the voters of my community and many from my former House district for this important position of public trust. I want to thank my many supporters and friends for their confidence.”
Seip also thanks his family and campaign team for their support through the Primary campaign season.
