Officials with an animal shelter in Schuylkill County are looking for answers into what they’re calling a torture killing of a dog this past weekend.
According to Ruth Steinert SPCA in Pine Grove, officials there received a call from State Police-Schuylkill Haven on Sunday about a dead black lab mix found near Donaldson. The dog appeared to have died as a result of a gun shot.
However, when shelter officials arrived on the scene, they say the senior dog had been shot at least seven times in what could only be described as an “execution.”
“This was not a mercy killing. This was torture. This was evil,” the shelter says. “This kind of cruelty is inhuman and will not be ignored.”
A photo of the deceased dog was shared on the shelter’s Facebook page.
The shelter is asking the public to come forward with information on the dog by either calling its facility at 570-345-3540 or by contacting the PSP-Schuylkill Haven barracks at 570-754-4600.
