A Schuylkill County man was jailed earlier this week after he allegedly sprayed a woman with suspected bear mace and tampered with her vehicle’s tires during a domestic altercation.
According to information from State Police-Schuylkill Haven, Troopers were dispatched to Montana Dr. in Lake Wynonah, South Manheim Township, shortly before 9:30 a.m. on June 24.
Police say they made contact with the alleged victim of this incident along the road outside her home. She said that a verbal argument between herself and Ryan Miller, 36, escalated to the point where he went outside and tampered with the air valve stems on her vehicle’s tires, causing them all to go flat.
Miller re-entered the home and the verbal argument continued and became physical. The victim told police that Miller pushed her against a wall and then onto the floor. He allegedly tried to kick her but was unsuccessful.
When the victim tried to leave the home, Miller allegedly sprayed suspected bear mace on her back.
Police say they tried to contact Miller at the front door of the home but were unsuccessful. A search of the home for Miller also resulted in no contact. Police learned that Miller had fled the house and into a wooded area near the home.
Following a brief foot pursuit, police were able to take Miller into custody.
Miller was arraigned that afternoon before District Magistrate Judge AJ Serina and charged with two counts of simple assault and one count of evading arrest on foot, all misdemeanors, as well as summary counts of harassment and criminal mischief.
Serina set bail at $10,000 cash, which hasn’t been posted, and Miller remains in Schuylkill County Prison, according to court records.
